I, DeAnne Smith, am currently a student at the Cleveland Institute of Art. I am a visual artist who loves to paint with vibrant colors, create flow in my art with shapes and patterns, and loves to expand in multiple ranges of sizes for my pieces, but mainly large-scale. I use acrylic paint as my medium. I love to create abstract paintings and am deeply influenced with music. Form, pattern, lines, color, and flow of movement is highlighted in my work. My paintings are are made for those who can connect to music and can see a familiarity within these characteristics of rhythm that music creates and can see the universal language. All of the work has drawn from inspiration, but it is always open to interpretation from my viewers. I aspire to put on exhibitions throughout my native community, Cleveland, Ohio, and to encourage others to express themselves in a therapeutic practice of painting and using colors, lines, and patterns to show a side of themselves in a visual art path.
VIBE is an exhibition driven by the influence of music and emphasizes on the feeling of music through color relationships, vibrational lines, geometric, and organic forms. In this exhibition, Smith creates large abstract paintings that wraps her audience in her environment of feeling music! This will be in partnership with Kelvin Smith Library from June 6, 2023 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm - August (dates will be updated soon), and is included in the Cleveland Institute of Art internship Creativity Works. Open Hours are 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm throughout the exhibition display. Please come and join us all!
